Procrastination

So I have lots of uni deadlines looming and instead of buckling down to get the work done  (as I really must do some time soon!) I’ve gone back to the calming stitch of Kantha. My understanding of Kantha’s origins (and please correct me if I am wrong!) is that it originated in Bangladesh where old saris would be stacked upon one another and hand stitched  (mainly with a running stitch) to create quilted blankets. I love the idea that something so beautiful can be made from old, often worn through, cloth.
So on this cold, wet Sunday morning I am going back to the calming, repetitive motion of using running stitch to create the kantha ripples with old scraps of fabric that I can’t quite bear to part with!! Hopefully the motivation to return to essay writing for uni will reappear soon…..
